දේශප්‍රේමිත්වය!

දේශප්‍රේමිත්වය!
(සදාදරණිය මව්බිම වෙනුවෙනි.)
ඉපදුනු දා සිට ,
මට ගින්න දැනෙන විට අන් බිමක වූ දේ නොව නුඹ තුල වූ දෙයක් මම මගේ කුසට රින්ගවුයෙමි.
මට වූ පිපාසවකදී අන් බිමක වූ පැන්පොදක් නොව නුඹගේ ජලබිඳුවකින් මම මගේ පිපාසාව නිවාගත්තෙමි.
මට ඇවැසි වූ හුස්ම ටික අන් බිමකින් නොව මා ලබාගත්තේ නුඹගෙනි.
නුබ අද මා දෙස බලනකල “මම” අද නුඹගේම අහරින්, වතුරින්, හුස්මෙන් පරිපුර්ණ වූ පරිපුර්ණ මිනිසෙකි. අද මම සම්පුර්ණ වී ඉන්නේ අන් බිමක් නිසා නොව නුඹ නිසාය.
එසේ නම් “මම” යනු වෙන අන් කවරකු වත් හෝ නොව නුබමය. එවිට “නුඹ” යනු අන් කවරෙක් හෝ නොව මමමය.
එය එසේ වූ විට,
නුඹ මත තබන පා මට “මා මත තබනවා” මෙනි. නුඹට හිරිහැර කරනා විට මට එය මට කරනා හිරිහැරයක් මෙනි. නුඹ මත කෙළපිඩක් හෙළනා විට මට එය මා මත කෙල පිඩක් හෙලන්නාක් මෙනි. නුඹ මිලකරණ දා මට මා මිලකරන්නාක්‌ මෙනි.
එසේ නම්,   
නුඹව පාගන දා මට එය නොදැනුනාසේ වෙයිද ?
නුඹට හිරිහැරකරන දා එය මට කරනා හිරිහැරයක් සේ නොවෙයිද ?
නුඹ මත හෙලන කෙලපිඩ මා මත හෙලු කෙළපිඩක් නොවෙයිද ?
නුඹව මිලකරනා දා මා මිලකරන්නා සේ නොවෙයිද?
නුඹ යනු මමම නම්, මම යනු නුඹම නම්,
මින් මතුවට,
මා තුල වූ දේ හා සමව මම නුඹ තුල වූ දේට ආදරය කරමි. මා තුල වූ පැන් හා සමව මම නුඹ තුල වූ පැන් රකිමි.  මා තුල වූ ප්‍රාණ වායුව හා සමානව මම නුඹ තුල වූ ප්‍රාණ වායුව රැකබලා ගනිමි.
මෙයයි මගේ උදානය!
මෙයයි මගේ දේශප්‍රේමිත්වය!
වෛද්‍ය මුදියන්සේ!

The Patriotism!
–      On behalf of the motherland –
From birth to now,
When I felt the hunger, I inserted something which was within you, not something from anywhere else.
When I was thirsty, I quenched my thirst not with a drop of another ground, but with a fountain in you.
I got the breath I needed to survive was from you, not from anywhere else. .
When you look “I” today is a perfect creation but, filled with your own solids, liquids and air.
Then “I” is none other than you. Then “you” is none other than me.
When that happens,
Footsteps on you are like stepping on me. When you are harassed, it is like harassing me. When one spits on you, it’s like spiting on me. When one values you, it’s like valuing me.
Don’t I feel it when one steps on me?
Don’t I hurt when one hurts you?
Don’t I feel like valuing me when one values you?
If you are me, if I am you,
From now on,
I love what is in you as much as what is in me.
I protect drops in you like drops in me.
I take care of your breeze just like the breeze in me.
This is my duty & This is patriotism!
