A Sri Lankan pastor returning from Canada was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while allegedly attempting to smuggle in sophisticated GPS type communication equipment last Friday, Customs sources said.
More than 30 communication sets and other accessories were found concealed inside two speakers in the luggage of the suspect, the sources said
The contraband comprised antennas and accessories, which police believe had been sent through the pastor by the LTTE in Canada to be smuggled into Sri Lanka.
Intelligence sleuths have now taken over investigations following suspicion that the contraband was being brought for the LTTE , police said.
