Iraq civil war: Judge who sentenced Saddam Hussein to death killed
Raouf Abdul Rahman, the judge who sentenced former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein to death, has been killed by ISIS militants. He was captured by the militants earlier.
His death has not been confirmed by the Iraqi government, but officials had not denied reports of his capture last week.
Rahman, who sentenced Hussein to death in 2006, was killed by rebels as revenge for ordering the death of the dictator.
Jordanian Member of Parliament Khalil Attieh wrote on his Facebook page: “Iraqi revolutionaries arrested him and sentenced him to death in retaliation for the death of the martyr Saddam Hussein. So far the Iraqi government has not confirmed the death of Judge Rahman, but they have refused to deny the kidnapping.”
