Osama bin Laden ‘shot dead in underwear’
Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was shot dead wearing only his underpants, a US senator has revealed.
James Inhofe, a Republican senator from Oklahoma, said he had seen photos taken of the terrorist leader’s body after he was killed in a raid by US Navy SEALs on May 2.
“Two of [the photos] showed that he had what you would call underwear on, that was it,” senator Inhofe told UK newspaper the Sun.
“The bullet either went in through the ear and out the eyeball or in the eyeball and out the ear.”
It is believed senator Inhofe, a member of the US Senate Armed Services Committee, is the first senator to have seen the photos.
The White House has refused to release the “gruesome” photo of bin Laden’s corpse to the public, due to fears it could be inflammatory.
A crack team of US Navy SEALs carried out the chopper raid on bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad in Pakistan with the help of a military dog, trained to sniff out bombs and booby-traps.
