Once upon a time in a peaceful village, there lived a mischievous shepherd boy named Alex. His job was to watch over the village sheep grazing on the hillside. But Alex was easily bored, and he longed for excitement.

One sunny day, as he sat under a tree, he had an idea. To entertain himself, he sang out, “Wolf! Wolf! The wolf is chasing the sheep!” The villagers heard his cry and rushed up the hill to drive away the wolf. But when they arrived, they found no wolf—only Alex grinning mischievously.

“Don’t scream wolf when there is no wolf, boy!” scolded the villagers. They returned to the village, shaking their heads.

Undeterred, Alex repeated his prank. Again, he cried, “Wolf! Wolf!” The villagers came running, only to find no wolf. “Save your frightened cry for when there really is a wolf!” they warned, annoyed.

But one fateful day, a real wolf appeared. Alex’s heart raced as he shouted, “Wolf! Wolf!” But this time, the villagers didn’t believe him. They thought it was another trick. The wolf attacked the sheep, and Alex watched helplessly.

When the villagers discovered the truth, they said, “Nobody believes a liar, even when he is telling the truth!” Alex learned a valuable lesson: lying breaks trust, and honesty matters more than any prank.

And so, from that day on, Alex became an honest shepherd, and the village learned to listen carefully when someone cried for help.

Remember, honesty is a virtue, and trust is fragile.
