Church response
In Thailand, Tearfund has just started working with a church organisation called “We Love Thailand”. We have seen increases in church attendance, with one area seeing a growth from two churches to 20.
In southern India we are working closely withCatholic priests who have good relationships with their communities.
Close links have also been fostered with local churches in Sri Lanka. Clare Crawford (Project Manager in Sri Lanka) says, “One of the partners has been working with a group of young people, many of whom now want to follow Jesus. They feel welcome in the churches – so there is now a youth church meeting regularly that has sprung out of a small tsunami project. This is a great side of our work!”
