Invoking the Bible In the War Debate

Re ”The Prince of Peace Was a Warrior, Too” (Op-Ed, Jan. 28):

Let us remember that millions of Americans are not Christians, and scriptural exhortations to either war or peace are not the deciding factor in our moral philosophy.

Ostensibly, this country still maintains separation of church and state. One would hope that we are not about to embark on a religious war.

Biblical or other religious quotations are poor justification for any American foreign-policy action, especially one as irreversible and devastating as the decision to make war.
