Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast
Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast has warned against certain Western-Israeli conspiracies aimed at sowing discord among Muslim countries, urging regional states to reinforce unity.

“We recommend regional governments to heed their people’s demands in order to counter such conspiracies,” Mehmanparast said in an interview with Channel 1 of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Sunday.

The Iranian official emphasized that regional governments should pay attention to the public demands “if they want to remain powerful.”

He pointed to the ongoing Islamic awakening in North African and Middle Eastern countries and highlighted the significant role played by certain states which fought against arrogant powers and maintained unity.

Despite pressure and sanctions over the past 32 years, the Islamic Republic is conquering peaks of honor, the spokesman said, adding that Iran is served as a model for regional countries.

He noted that the fulfillment of public demands, prevention of violent acts and non-interference of foreign forces in regional countries are among Iran’s main policies on the ongoing developments.

Mehmanparast questioned the West’s “dual” attitude to the regional events and said, “It seems that the presence of people in different countries and in the sensitive regions of Middle East and North Africa has raised concern for Western countries and Zionists who have explicitly announced that they are pursuing their own interests.”

He concluded that Western countries seek to dominate oil wells of regional countries, meet Israel’s interests, set up military bases and pursue Iranophobia project.
