මහනුවර ප්‍රදේශය කේන්ද්‍ර කරගනිමින් ලංකා විදුලිබල මණ්ඩලයේ නමින් සිදුකෙරෙන නවතම දුරකථන වංචාවක් පිළිබඳව තොරතුරු වාර්තා වේ. මාසික විදුලි බිල්පත රුපියල් 10,000 ඉක්මවන පාරිභෝගිකයන් ඉලක්ක කරගනිමින්, බිල්පත් ගාස්තු අඩු කිරීම සඳහා විශේෂ “යුනිට් එකක් සකස් කර දෙන” බව පවසමින් වංචාකරුවන් විදුලි මණ්ඩලයේ නිලධාරීන් ලෙස පෙනී සිටිමින් මෙම ඇමතුම් ලබා දෙයි. කෙසේ වෙතත්, විදුලි මණ්ඩලයේ මහනුවර නිල දුරකථන අංකය වන 081-222285 මඟින් තහවුරු කර ඇත්තේ එවැනි කිසිදු සේවාවක් ක්‍රියාත්මක නොවන අතර මෙය සම්පූර්ණයෙන්ම ව්‍යාජ (Spam) ඇමතුමක් බවයි. එබැවින් මෙවැනි ඇමතුම්වලට හසු වී කිසිදු මුදල් ගෙවීමක් නොකරන ලෙසත්, පෞද්ගලික තොරතුරු හෝ බිල්පත් විස්තර ලබා නොදෙන ලෙසත් මහජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටින අතර, සැකකටයුතු ඇමතුමක් ලැබුණහොත් වහාම විදුලි මණ්ඩලය අමතා සත්‍යතාවය තහවුරු කරගන්නා ලෙසත්, මේ පිළිබඳව වහාම පොලිසියට වාර්තා කර අනෙක් අයද දැනුවත් කරන ලෙසත් අවධාරණය කෙරේ.

⚠️ Fake CEB “Special Unit” Calls Reported in Kandy

Kandy, May 19, 2026 – Information has been reported regarding a new telephone scam carried out under the name of the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB). Targeting customers whose monthly electricity bills exceed Rs. 10,000, fraudsters are making calls claiming that a special “unit” can be set up to reduce bill payments. These callers pose as CEB officials and attempt to mislead the public.

However, verification through the official CEB Kandy hotline 081‑222285 confirmed that no such service exists. Officials stated that these calls are entirely fraudulent and should be treated as spam.

The public is strongly advised not to make any payments to such callers, not to disclose personal information or billing details, and to always confirm the authenticity of any suspicious call directly with the Electricity Board. In addition, authorities emphasize the importance of reporting such incidents immediately to the police and raising awareness among others to prevent further scams.
